It’s very rewarding to see our NOVA family volunteering and doing good things in our communities. NOVA was a proud sponsor of the 2nd Annual Bear Romp 5k held at Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida. NOVA’s own Desiré Mahanna, Business Unit Manager/Facilities & Building Envelope Services, served as the race director and created all the fun event swag – the design for logos, medals, shirts, etc. Assisting Desiré was NOVA team members Brandon Mahanna, Jacob McAdams, and Julia Eraso.

The Black Bear Romp 5k raised enough money to subsidize the cost of Bear Proof Trash Cans for 120 residents in the Wekiva Basin! These special trash cans are virtually indestructible and inaccessible to bears (and other wildlife). This effort helps save Florida’s Black Bears by preventing them from scavenging local trash cans for food.
