Engineering Technicians

Engineering Technician/Inspector
Assists Engineers and other NOVA Professionals by performing a variety of on-site quality control tests, inspections, and project-specific observations/evaluations most often related to site grading, utility and foundation installation, concrete and masonry construction, structural steel and pre-cast erection, fireproofing, waterproofing, roofing and paving for commercial, industrial, office, retail and manufacturing construction projects. Position requires the ability to interpret or work from drawings, specifications, diagrams and schematics. Excellent oral and written communication skills a must. Requires high school diploma/GED and valid/current state driver’s license. Industry specific certifications from ICC (Special Inspector), NICET, ACI, AWS, ASNT, etc. are preferred. Positions require ability to lift and/or move 35-100 pounds regularly. Must be able to accomplish tasks under adverse weather and/or site conditions. Working environment will be moderately noisy to loud in nature. Some assignments may require working in confined spaces or climbing and working at above average heights. Good vision and manual dexterity required.

Level I (Entry-level) Technician/Inspector
Typically requires high school diploma/GED and 0 - 1 year of experience. Work performed under direct supervision using prescribed methods.

Level II Technician/Inspector
Performs on site observations, takes samples, perform specific tests and maintains records of more complex nature. Performed under general supervision. Typically requires 2 - 4 years of experience. Requires certifications such as ACI or radiation safety training for the use of Nuclear Density Gauges.

Level III Technician/Inspector
Performs and may supervise more complex work tasks. Has thorough knowledge of testing and observation requirements. May train other technicians/inspectors. Typically requires 5 - 10 years of experience. National and state accreditation certifications such as ICC Special Inspector or NICET are required.

Level IV Technician/Inspector
Supervises and performs complex work tasks. Has thorough knowledge of testing and observation requirements. National and state accreditation certifications such as ICC and/or NICET (Level II in multiple disciplines minimum) are required. May act as project manager and direct/train other technicians/ inspectors. Typically requires 10+ years of experience.

Geotechnical Engineer

Immediate opening for an entry level professional, trained in the field of Geotechnical Engineering, seeking a challenging career with a growth-oriented company committed to providing quality services to its Clients. This position requires a B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (others need not apply) with an interest in subsurface investigations, foundation engineering, earth supported structures, dams, tunnels, pavement design and remediation. The position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with leadership ability and willingness to perform field and office tasks as dictated by project demands. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Determination of soil/rock engineering properties
  • Project site reconnaissance and boring layout
  • Management of test boring exploration programs
  • Analysis of field and laboratory test data
  • Determination of the bearing and settlement characteristics of subsurface materials
  • Preparation of geotechnical exploration and foundation recommendation reports
  • Management of construction materials testing/inspection (CMT) projects
  • Preparation of geotechnical and CMT proposals

Environmental Geologist / Project Manager

Environmental Geologist / Project Manager
Outgoing individual comfortable with client contact and maintenance with experience and formal training in loss and liability management and review. Fast paced, results-oriented environment. “Get-it-done” approach to work and deadlines while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policy. Day to day responsibility for the execution of numerous small to mid-sized projects and their clients. Also, the candidate will have limited supervision and review of less senior staff. Responsibilities will include project management, client interaction & communication, proposal preparation, project set up and scheduling, fieldwork, data assembly and data quality review, data interpretation, development of technical conclusions and recommendations, and final report preparation and review. Project types will include Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos and lead based paint surveys, wetlands/stream setback reviews, sub-surface investigations (borings, well installation and sampling), corrective action plans (CAPs - UST, HSRA and brownfields), compliance status reports (CSR – HSRA and brownfields), remediation and abatement planning and execution, etc. Georgia Professional Geologist, registration required. Seven or more years of directly related experience required. Others need not apply.
